So you’re not a classic cool girl, but maybe you know one. Here’s what to get her for the holidays:

1. Get Literary. Playing Words With Friends on your iPhone may not be the best idea when it comes to conserving battery power. You can, however, flex those creative muscles with a pen and paper by making up your own Mad Libs. Take turns switching and filling in each other’s stories, then read them out loud to the entire family. You’re bound to finally break out a few giggles.

2. Pamper Yourself. Now is the time to play around with all of those DIY Beauty ideas you’ve been meaning to try. Nail art is an obvious option, but there are also plenty of facial masks to experiment with. If it’s during the day, try coming up with a cool new hair or makeup look that you would never have time to perfect on a regular schedule (or try it out on one of your budding fashionistas). And if those don’t work, you could always go for a relaxing bubble bath, right?

3. Become a Mad Scientist. Remember all of those classic kitchen experiments you used to do as a kid? (Come on, you cannot forget the egg in a bottle one!) Break them out again with your children – you’d be amazed what one can do with a little food coloring and H2O.

4. And While You’re in the Kitchen… Why not bake a bunch of cupcakes or cookies and bring them over to all of your neighbors? Or pretend you’re on a camping trip and roast marshmallows over the stove. For added authenticity, build a tent in your living room and eat them in there while telling each other ghost stories.

5. Break Out the Scissors and Glue And cut up all of those magazines lying around your house (after reading them, of course). We used to love making creative collages when we were younger. Also, we know you still have those cootie catcher making skills from the 7th grade. Make one and try telling each other’s fortunes, or guessing each other’s secret crushes…

We had fun taking a walk down memory lane to elementary art class by mixing our favorite frosting colors with basic food coloring. Here are the ratios you need in order to make a treasure box of jewel tone cupcakes:

Oxblood - 3 parts Red : 1 part Blue
Sapphire  - 4 parts Blue : 1 part Green
Amethyst - 1 part Red : 1 part Blue

To make our world-famous (okay maybe not, but at least we like to think so) apple cider, you’ll need the above ingredients along with an orange, a small crock pot (we made 2 quarts, which serves about four) and a little bit of sugar.

Step 1: Layer the bottom of your crock pot with about two orange slices and two cinnamon sticks.

Step 2: Fill crock pot about 3/4 with apple cider.  Add remaining orange slices and another cinnamon stick.

Step 3: Fill to the top with an apple-flavored vodka (optional). Cover and let simmer on high until boiling, then cook on low for about 15 minutes.

Step 4: While the drink is heating up, mix together cinnamon and sugar on a plate. Take glass cups and dip into top of the cider to wet, then dip into plate to create a cinnamon-sugar ring along the glass. Fill cups and you’re ready to serve!

All it takes is a classic dress (like the LT Satin and Jersey) and a few key 1920′s-inspired accessories. Grab a fur stole, a vintage hat, some beaded baubles and an Art Deco embellished heel (all of which are going to be widely on trend thanks to the much anticipated release of The Great Gatsby, by the way). If you really feel like going all-out with DIY aspect of this costume, take a look at this makeup tutorial which will have you literally looking like you’re in a black and white film all night.

Pumpkins were our first matter of business, so read below to learn how to paint not one, not two, but three gorgeous renditions that are sure to make a statement in the neighborhood.

To put a spin on your typical spooky jack-o-lantern, we took a cue from our Metallic Mesh Dress. The first step is to grab that paint brush and go all out with the black acrylic. For the full effect, don’t be afraid to add a few layers until it is opaque.

Next, grab a paper towel or napkin and dab silver, metallic paint all over the surface – you don’t have to wait for the first layer to dry, by the way!

To mimic the chevron pattern in our Flame Stitch Dress, begin by cutting the painter’s tape into about 3 inch strips and arranging them on your pumpkin in zigzags.

Fill in all of the open space with the purple paint.

Carefully remove painter’s tape.

Fill in remaining space with red paint.

Drawing from the abstract print on the Jersey Faux Wrap, we decided to flex our artistic muscles with the final pumpkin.

Start by spaciously sponge painting with the green and yellow acrylic.

Continue to layer on the paint until opaque, add in a little black for a more dramatic effect at the end.

And… ta-da!
